JDF upset Cavalier as Mount Pleasant and Harbour View Gardens win in Popeyes Challenge Cup
Jamaica Defence Force FC pulled off the standout result in Wednesday’s Popeyes Challenge Cup fixtures, beating former Premier League champions Cavalier FC 1-0.
Deshane Williams decided the contest for the Cassava Championship League outfit, giving JDF a narrow win over one of the better-known names in local football.
Mount Pleasant FA, the Caribbean Cup champions, also advanced in emphatic fashion. The St. Ann-based team defeated Lime Hall Academy FC 5-0, with Daniel Green leading the scoring through a hat-trick.
Deshane Anglin and Tajay McIntosh added the other goals for Mount Pleasant in the one-sided result.
Harbour View Gardens also enjoyed a productive outing, securing a 3-1 victory against Roaring River FC. Giovanni Taylor, named Jamaica Premier League Young Player of the Year, maintained his good scoring form with two goals in the match.
Montego Bay United were also among the winners, edging Meadowbrook United FC 1-0 through a goal from Dever Orgill McKenzie.
Elsewhere in Wednesday’s results, Molynes United FC defeated Cavalier Club Brown’s Town 2-1, while Chapelton Maroons FC beat Reno FC 3-1.
