Jermaine Dupri Seeks $18 Million From Sony Music in Long-Running Royalty Fight

1 min read

Music producer and songwriter Jermaine Dupri has sued Sony Music Entertainment, alleging the company withheld millions of dollars in royalties stretching back to the early 1990s.

Dupri says an audit completed last year uncovered unpaid royalties tied to recordings by Kris Kross, Xscape, Da Brat, Jagged Edge, Mariah Carey and Usher.

He is pursuing at least $18 million in damages and accuses Sony of concealing royalty payments while breaching multiple contracts.

Sony has not yet made any public response to the allegations.
