JLP Mourns Passing of Leslie Campbell

The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) is mourning the passing of its Deputy Treasurer, Leslie Campbell, who died on Sunday after a period of illness.

JLP General Secretary, Horace Chang, expressed condolences to Campbell’s family, friends, and colleagues, thanking them for his service to both party and country.

In a release, Chang described Campbell as an accomplished public servant who served with distinction in multiple roles, including Deputy Treasurer of the party, Member of Parliament for North East St. Catherine, Cabinet Minister, State Minister, and Senator. He was also an attorney-at-law.

Jamaica Labour Party mourns the passing of Leslie Campbell


The Jamaica Labour Party is mourning the passing of Deputy Treasurer Leslie Campbell.

Mr. Campbell died on Sunday morning.
He had been battling illness.

Jamaica Labour Party General Secretary, Dr. the Honourable Horace Chang, is lauding Mr. Campbell for his service.

Dr. Chang says:

“The Jamaica Labour Party deeply regrets Leslie’s passing. We send our condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues in the various areas of national life where he served. We thank Leslie’s family for allowing him to give service to his Party and country and join them in this period of much bereavement.”

Dr. Chang says Leslie Campbell was an accomplished Jamaican who performed the tasks he dedicated himself to with distinction.

The Jamaica Labour Party General Secretary commented further:

“Leslie served our Party well as Deputy Treasurer and was our successful candidate in North East St. Catherine where he represented as Member of Parliament. Leslie was also a distinguished servant of his country, having been a former Cabinet Minister, State Minister, and Senator. He was also a competent attorney-at-law. We are appreciative of his service to both Party and country. We will miss him, even as we remember his significant contribution.”

Dr. Chang concluded that above all Leslie Campbell was a decent human being who was always willing to lend assistance to a fellow Jamaican.
