JPS Says Network Fault Triggered Jamaica-Wide Power Cut
The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) is reporting that a system failure is behind the darkness across Jamaica.
Energy Minister Daryl Vaz, in a post on X, formerly Twitter, stated that the country is experiencing an islandwide blackout.
JPS, in a media release on Friday, said it is taking steps to restore power to customers, adding that restoration will be carried out in a phased and pre-determined manner.
The company further said that it is investigating the cause of the incident.
“The company commits to keeping its customers informed as more information becomes available and thanks customers for their patience and understanding.”
