JPS first-quarter profit falls as revenue slips and finance costs rise

Jamaica Public Service Company reported a smaller profit for the quarter that ended March 31, pointing to reduced revenue and increased financing expenses.

The light and power provider made net profit of US$6.4 million for the period, compared with US$12.7 million in the same quarter last year. Operating revenue moved down to US$240.4 million from US$265.9 million a year earlier.

Gross profit was US$95.5 million, while operating profit stood at US$22.8 million, falling from just over US$30 million in 2025. JPS also booked net finance costs of US$16 million, adding further pressure on earnings.
