Julien Alfred Claims 100m Gold at Bislett Games on 25th Birthday

Olympic champion Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia turned 25 with a commanding win in the women's 100 metres at the Diamond League Bislett Games in Norway.

The Saint Lucian star crossed the line in 10.76 seconds under wind-aided conditions, well clear of Britain's Amy Hunt, who finished second in 10.99 seconds. New Zealand's Zoe Hobbs claimed third place with a time of 11.03 seconds.

Speaking after the race, Alfred said she was happy with how she ran and content with the outcome, adding yet another significant result to her expanding record on the global stage.

"I am healthy, and I am happy to get the win here. I would say I am trusting myself a lot more. And I am having so much more fun."

"As long as I come in and finish healthy, I am happy about it. I worked very hard to get to this point in my life. Just being here, racing amongst the best athletes in the world, like I said, I am appreciating every chance I get to run," Alfred said.

"I love the competitiveness in the 100m right now. It keeps me on my toes to go out there and compete and be at my best every single time I line up, so I have no complaints right now."

The victory capped a remarkable stretch for Alfred, who collected her second Diamond League gold in fewer than seven days. She had earlier topped the 200m field at the Rome Diamond League before returning to the track in Norway to take the 100m title at the Bislett meeting.

The consecutive triumphs underline her form and rising self-belief this campaign, as she cements her place among the sport's top female sprinters.
