Julien Alfred Left Off Saint Lucia Squads for Commonwealth and CAC Games
CASTRIES, Saint Lucia (CMC) — Olympic sprint champion Julien Alfred will sit out both the Commonwealth Games and the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games, having been left off the squads the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee (SLOC) released in recent days.
Alfred, who took silver at the 2023 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, was not included on either roster when selectors finalised their teams for the two regional championships.
For the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, running from July 23 to August 2, the SLOC has entered only three athletes. Khailan Vitalis will run the men's 110m hurdles, while Michael Joseph and Marvric Pamphile will compete in the men's 400m.
Saint Lucia will send a larger party of 26 athletes to the CAC Games in the Dominican Republic, scheduled for July 24 to August 8. That group will compete across netball, boxing, weightlifting, golf, table tennis, track and field, and sailing.
