Khadija Shaw scores at Wembley as Manchester City complete historic double

Manchester

Jamaica striker Khadija Shaw got on the scoresheet on Sunday as Manchester City defeated Brighton 4-0 in the Women's FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

The result gave City a landmark domestic double, adding the FA Cup to the Barclays Women's Super League crown in the same campaign for the first time in the club's history. FotMob reported that only two clubs had previously managed that achievement in English women's football.

Brighton started brightly and put City under some early pressure, but the Manchester side settled and began to dictate play. Shaw opened the scoring in the 38th minute, meeting an Alex Greenwood delivery with a header to put City in front.

Greenwood then made it 2-0 shortly before the interval, scoring directly from a free kick to leave City firmly in control at halftime.

After the break, substitute Aoba Fujino added a third when her shot took a deflection and beat Brighton goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie. Vivianne Miedema later scored City's fourth goal to round off the one-sided final.

Shaw's goal moved her to 20 strikes from 19 appearances in the Women's FA Cup. The Jamaican had confirmed last week that she would stay at Manchester City after signing a new four-year contract.
