Farmer Dies in Machete Killing in Hope Bay, Portland

A farmer was killed in a machete attack in the Content district of Hope Bay, Portland, on Thursday afternoon.

Police reports say the incident unfolded shortly after midday when the man was allegedly attacked by another male. He received several chop wounds to the head and upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The police have not yet released the victim's identity. The man accused in the attack has been taken into custody as detectives continue to probe the circumstances of the fatal incident.

The death marks the latest murder in the Portland Police Division. Jamaica Constabulary Force figures show the division recorded two murders between January 1 and June 27 this year.
