Manchester Municipal Corporation Pays Tribute to Former MP Anthony 'Dean' Peart
While the Manchester Municipal Corporation, on Tuesday, suspended its regular business to honour the life and legacy of former Member of Parliament, Anthony ‘Dean’ Peart, councillors and family members reflected on the former mayor's decades of public service and contribution to the parish.
Before moving to its scheduled agenda on Tuesday, the Manchester Municipal Corporation paid a tribute to former MP Anthony Dean Pert, remembering him as a dedicated public servant whose impact on the parish transcended politics.
Mayor of Manchester Donovan Mitchell opened the tributes by acknowledging the foundation leaded by Anthony ‘Dean’ Peart and those who served before him while extending condolences to his family and loved ones.
Mitchell said, “On behalf of the councillors and administration of the people of Manchester, I extend our sincere sympathies to the Peart family. May they find comfort in knowing that this service has not been forgotten and that his contribution to the parish will remain part of the history for many years to come.”
Councillor Jones Oliphant remembered the pier as a courageous and committed representative saying his dedication to public service earned the respect of colleagues and constituents alike.
Oliphant said, “Deany built a legacy that I don't know if any other politician can build such legacy in northwest Manchester. He has the best the best community centres and the roads at that time when he was MP were the best in the parish.”
Speaking on behalf of the family, Peart's nephew, Ryan Peart, reflected on the many roles his uncle played throughout his life, describing him as a devoted family man, mentor, and servant of the people.
“Outside of politics, he loved construction. There was nothing Uncle Deany couldn't do. When building his house, he jumped right on site, getting his hands dirty, doing everything from plumbing to electrical. Working alongside him on those houses are memories I would always search.”
