Mandeville police kill two after Newleigh Road chase ends in gunfire

Yesterday in Mandeville, Manchester, people fled for safety as uniformed police and men said to be carrying weapons exchanged heavy fire. Those living nearby reported that the disturbance tracked a rapid car chase across the forecourt area of a petrol retailer on Newleigh Road.
When the firing ceased, a white Toyota Axio sat visible, its bodywork holed repeatedly. Officers' shots during the incident ended the lives of two males who have still not been named. Police also recovered two guns. Community members said what they went through was frightening.
