St. James Firearm Seizure: Glock Pistol Recovered During Police Operation in Melbourne

St James, Jamaica: A firearm seizure is under investigation after police recovered an illegal handgun and ammunition during an operation in Melbourne, St. James, on Friday, May 29.

Law enforcement officers assigned to the St. James Policing Division reportedly seized a Glock 43X pistol along with a magazine containing two 9mm cartridges following a response to reports of a shooting incident in the Green Pond community.

According to the Montego Bay Police, officers were dispatched to the area at approximately 12:24 p.m. after receiving information about the incident. Upon arriving at a residence linked to a suspect, the individual was allegedly seen on the property but fled when he became aware of the police presence.

A subsequent search of the area where the man had reportedly been standing led to the discovery of the firearm and ammunition.

The seizure has not resulted in any arrests so far. Investigators continue to pursue leads as efforts remain underway to identify and locate the suspect.

Police have not released additional details as the investigation remains active.
