A policeman connected to the fatal shooting of Latoya Bull Gilbert has been charged with murder, according to CVM’s noon newscast on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. Constable Andrew Wilson appeared in the St. James Parish Court over the on-duty shooting in Granville, St. James, on May 17.

The Independent Commission of Investigations said its probe leaned heavily on video material gathered soon after the incident. INDECOM sent a file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, which ruled on May 29 that Wilson should face a murder charge. Bail was refused, and he is to return to court on June 16.

The Broadcasting Commission of Jamaica also criticised Flow and Digicel over what it called poor and unacceptable customer service during major subscription television channel changes last year. The regulator said customers were not given clear, timely and useful notice, and ordered both companies to improve communication. It warned the breaches could be weighed in future licence renewal decisions.

In Kingston Harbour, the USS Nimitz continued what government officials described as its final overseas port call before decommissioning. Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Minister Senator Kamina Johnson Smith said the five-day visit reflected strong Jamaica-US maritime cooperation, including defence diplomacy, humanitarian support and disaster response capacity.

CVM also examined the government’s 6.25 per cent rise in the national minimum wage to $17,000 weekly, alongside a 16 per cent public passenger vehicle fare increase. Eight per cent took effect on June 2, with the balance due in July. Economist Janiel McKewan said higher transport, grocery and housing costs could wipe out much of the benefit for low-income workers and strain small businesses.

The bulletin later moved overseas, reporting that Iranian drones struck a terminal building at Kuwait International Airport on Wednesday. Authorities briefly closed the airport, while Kuwait’s health ministry reported one death and at least 63 injuries.
