Police Fatally Shoot Alleged Rockfort Gang Member Roger Lawrence

St. Andrew

Roger Lawrence, a 35-year-old Rockfort man also known as Dadda, was shot dead by police during what they described as an armed encounter in Rockfort, St. Andrew, on Friday evening.

Lawrence, who lived at 2 Peters Road in Rockfort, was reportedly on a property when police arrived to carry out an intelligence-based operation backed by a search warrant. According to the police account, he ran from the officers and climbed into a tree.

The police report that Lawrence fired at them from the tree, prompting them to shoot back. They say he then jumped down, entered a house on Rusden Road and again discharged his weapon at the team. Officers returned fire, hitting him in the upper body. He fell to the ground, police said, with the firearm still in his hand.

A 9mm pistol containing one live cartridge was reportedly taken from the scene. Lawrence was later declared dead at Kingston Public Hospital.

Police allege that Lawrence belonged to the Rockfort-based Scheme Gang and was deeply involved in scamming, with money from those activities used to buy guns and ammunition for the organisation. They also identify him as a member of the Fitzgerald Avenue Gang, which operates in the St. Andrew South Division.

Lawrence had been removed from the United States in November 2025 over illegal entry and domestic violence, according to the police.
