The St Ann police are investigating the suspected suicide of 50-year-old Maurice Alfonso Fennel, a security guard from Cambridge, St James, whose body was found Thursday morning.

Investigators say Fennel had gone to the Brown's Town area of St Ann about 9 p.m. Wednesday and was staying with friends. His body was discovered sometime after 6 a.m. Thursday.

Senior Superintendent Carlos Russell, commanding officer for the St Ann Police Division, said Fennel was outside along the roadway when gunshots were heard. When a friend went to check, Fennel was seen lying on the road with his firearm in his hand.

Police say inquiries are continuing. TVJ News reported that Fennel was being sought for questioning by the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency in connection with a missing person case involving a woman in Manchester.

The missing woman was identified as 40-year-old Kadisia Mloud, a pharmacy technician of Bombay, Manchester, who was last seen on Tuesday, June 9. The report later said information reaching the newsroom indicated that she had been found.

Russell also said Fennel had allegedly told his friend he was a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, and the friend believed that claim.
