Manchester police recover suspected stolen goods as JP fraud case heads to court
Police have reported two fatal shootings during separate operations, while Manchester investigators are also urging burglary victims to check recovered items at the Mandeville Police Station.
In Rockfort, St Andrew, 35-year-old Roger Lawrence, also called Dada, of Peter's Road, was shot dead on Friday evening during what police described as an intelligence-led search warrant operation. Investigators said Lawrence climbed a tree when officers entered the property, fired at them, then ran towards a house on Ruston Road and fired again. Police said they returned fire, hitting him in the upper body. A 9mm pistol with one live round was reportedly recovered. Lawrence was pronounced dead at Kingston Public Hospital. Police alleged he was linked to the Scheme gang in Rockfort, the Federal Avenue gang in the St Andrew South Division, and scamming activities. They said he had been deported from the United States in November 2025 for illegal entry and domestic violence.
Another man, Troy Clark, also called Roach, was fatally shot during a targeted operation in Content Gardens on Thursday. Police said fugitive apprehension officers, acting on information and a search warrant, went to an apartment in Top Hill district. They reported that Clark opened fire after they entered. A 9mm pistol with a magazine containing five rounds was reportedly seized, along with seven additional 9mm rounds found on a bed.
In Manchester, police said suspected stolen electronics, appliances, household items, curtains, plumbing fixtures, toilets, faucets and doors were found during a raid in Malgoli. They are asking burglary victims to visit the Mandeville station with proof to identify their property. Damian Biggs is being urged to surrender to the Mandeville Criminal Investigation Branch or the nearest police station.
