St James police probe fatal chopping and poison incident in Norwood
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Police in St James are looking into a suspected murder and attempted suicide after a woman died from chop wounds and her husband was taken to hospital in the Greens section of Norwood, Montego Bay.
Authorities say the man swallowed what looked like a poisonous substance. His medical condition has not been confirmed, and the dead woman’s identity has not been released.
Investigators allege the pair quarrelled around 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. During that clash, the woman received multiple chop injuries that killed her.
Unconfirmed accounts indicate the couple were in the middle of divorce proceedings, and the situation appears to have deteriorated sharply.
