Police kill two alleged LOL Gang suspects in Spanish Town after gas station hold-ups

Police fatally shot two men they say belonged to the LOL Gang on Tuesday night in Spanish Town, St Catherine, only hours after armed hold-ups at several Corporate Area petrol stations left a female pump attendant in critical care.

Officers located the pair at a dwelling in the St John's Road district and opened an operation shortly after 9:20 p.m., according to the constabulary. Members of the St Catherine North Operational Support Team moved on reports that the suspects were sheltering there. Both men died in the encounter, and ranks recovered a gun at the location.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has started its customary review of the police killing.

Authorities said the raid capped a hunt that ran through the day, launched after gunmen robbed petrol outlets on Deanery Road, West Main Drive, Maxfield Avenue and Harbour View. At the Deanery Road station, one of the attackers shot a female attendant in the chest. She was taken to hospital and was still listed in serious condition.

Clips of the Deanery Road assault have circulated widely online and drawn strong public anger. Detectives link the dead men to the LOL Gang, which they say is active throughout the Corporate Area. Inquiries into the robberies and the group's wider conduct remain open.
