JCF Agricultural Protection Branch posts strong December enforcement tally
Half a year after the Jamaica Constabulary Force established its Agricultural Protection Branch, the unit is reporting clear gains in cases affecting farmers.
In December alone, the branch made 81 arrests, secured 34 convictions, and recovered livestock valued at $7,372,000 under the Yuletide Agricultural Resilience and Enforcement Initiative. Those actions were taken under the Agriculture Produce Act, the Larceny Act, and other related laws.
In a statement, the JCF said the branch’s performance over a single month shows why dedicated teams are needed to tackle praedial larceny and other offences against the agricultural sector.
