UWI Cautions Public About Sham Site Collecting Personal Details

1 min readSt. Andrew

The University of the West Indies (UWI) is cautioning members of the public about an imposter website that presents itself as connected to the regional institution.

According to the university, the bogus platform gathers private details such as full names, email addresses, and phone contacts without any approval from UWI.

Officials are asking persons who may have interacted with the site to stop supplying additional personal or banking details. They should also confirm any outreach purporting to come from UWI through verified official university platforms.

The institution has notified cybercrime specialists and police about the scam and is pursuing both legal remedies and technical action aimed at shutting the website down.
