Lady Da Flame drops dancehall single Summer on major platforms

2 min read

Jamaica’s Lady Da Flame has put out a new single titled Summer, available now across leading digital music services.

Rawborn Productions handled production on the lively cut, which mixes dancehall with island and reggaeton flavours. Heavy drums, deep bass and a hard-driving groove give the record a buoyant seasonal feel, suited to beach sessions, festivals, long drives and island revelry.

The artiste said she set out to craft a track fans would latch onto straight away.

“My inspiration for the track was simple — we wanted a new fun song for the season, which is summer. I want fans to enjoy it and have fun. I think people will relate to the song and also enjoy the ‘sick’ beat it’s on. Summer songs are important because they capture the mood and the vibes of the season,” she said.

She stressed that, for all the island and reggaeton colouring, the song stays anchored in dancehall.

“It has a dancehall feel, with island and reggaeton vibes that all stem from dancehall,” she added.

Lady Da Flame said the pushy percussion and thick bass are meant to get bodies moving, while the bright energy calls up sunshine, speeding cars, parties and free-spirited island life.

The drop comes after a packed stretch for the singer, who keeps building her name across dancehall and reggae. Earlier this year she took the stage before thousands at a Mother’s Day concert at UBS Arena, appearing alongside Beres Hammond, Stephanie Mills and Romain Virgo — a show that underlined her live command and reached new ears. She also paid tribute to mothers with the single Mama, which connected with listeners and pointed up her range as a singer and writer.
