The National Health Fund says it remains in charge of its computer systems while investigators try to determine how hackers accessed information and whether any client records were exposed. Chief executive officer Everton Anderson said the agency has already reached out to people whose data may have been affected.

Anderson said the early findings suggested only a small number of sensitive records may have been involved, but stressed that the review is not complete. "The extent of it is still being investigated," he said.

The NHF is a state agency that helps Jamaicans access more affordable health care. In 2025, the fund reported that it had more than 355,000 active beneficiaries.

Speaking Wednesday on RJR's Beyond the Headlines, Anderson said the agency could not yet say where the cyberattack originated or fully measure its impact. He said the investigation includes the NHF's internal personnel, outside consultants and other specialists carrying out a detailed examination.

The fund said it first became aware of the incident through an email. TVJ News was not able to confirm whether the hackers made any demands.

Anderson said, however, that the NHF's databases remain under the agency's control. "We can confirm that we're in full control of our systems," he said, adding that the information available so far does not indicate a wide-ranging breach.

He said the agency intends to keep clients informed as the facts become clearer, given the health-related nature of the information involved.
