Vincentian Health Leaders Urge HIV Screening Ahead of Vincymas Season

1 min read

Public health leaders in St. Vincent and the Grenadines have asked residents and visitors to strengthen precautions against HIV as the country records a continued increase in new infections. Cases are rising notably among people aged 25 to 29 and among men over 60.

Although more women are now seeking tests, officials say a significant share of newly confirmed cases is still being found in men. Authorities are reminding the public that HIV cannot be detected by how someone looks and are urging steady condom use, regular screening, and responsible conduct, particularly during the Vincymas carnival season.

Timely testing and treatment, they say, remain essential to slowing transmission and improving long-term health outcomes.
