Legacy Isle returns in Reggae Trophy

The $1.75-million Reggae Trophy, a Graded Stakes/Open Allowance for three-year-olds and upward, headlines tomorrow’s 10-race card at Caymanas Park.

The 5-furlong (1,000m) dash has drawn six, but the story is the seasonal reappearance of Legacy Isle, the crack American-bred runner who has twice placed in the Mouttet Mile.

Below, The Supreme Racing Guide takes a closer look at each runner and their chances:

1. PACK PLAYS (USA): (5 dk b/br h by Stay Thirsty – Standard Deal ) — Finished seventh, beaten 22 lengths by Rideallday in the Ian Levy Cup at 8½ furlongs (1,700m) on April 6. Pack Plays reverts to a distance he is more suited to and is expected to run a much better race. Chance: Place appeal.

2. ANOTHER ONE (4 b c by Aveenu Malcainu – Chinitagoodaz) — Loves the 5-furlong straight course but is outclassed here. Chance: No match for these.

3. MONEY MARKET: (6 b h by Successful Native – Soca Dancer) Very consistent runner who has already won over this trip. Expected to run well and should be in the mix for second. Chance: Exacta factor.

4. LEGACY ISLE (USA): (6 b h by Shackleford – Queenameina) — Makes his seasonal debut in good nick. Last raced on December 27, 2025 in the Christopher “Chris” Armond Sprint at 5½ furlongs (1,100m), winning by 10 lengths in 1:04.2. Has been training well coming into this race and should brush aside the competition. Chance: The one to beat.

5. MIGHTY GULLY: (4 b f by Buzz Nightmare – Lady Exotic) – A winner last time out but not expected to repeat in this company. Chance: Up against it.

6. RAINSVILLE: (7 gr g by Casual Trick – Fiftyshadesofray) – Has no realistic chance of winning. Chance: Outsider.

HOW THE RACE SHAPES UP:

Pack Plays has to send from gate 1. Legacy Isle will be right on his hip. Money Market sits thirds, 2 lengths off them. Another One and Mighty Gully trail. If Pack Plays goes 22.1, Legacy Isle inhales him by the 3/16ths pole and draws off. If Pack Plays gets loose in 23.0, Money Market and Mighty Gully become threats.

The Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide Selections:

1st: #4 LEGACY ISLE — Too much class, too much speed, training like a monster.

2nd: #3 MONEY MARKET — Race-fit, consistent, loves the trip.

3rd: #1 PACK PLAYS — Cutback helps, keeps on for third.

4th: #5 MIGHTY GULLY — Weight break makes her dangerous late.
