Flood fears rise in St. Thomas as hurricane season nears
Concern is growing in St. Thomas with the hurricane season now two weeks away, as several communities known for flooding remain vulnerable.
At a recent monthly sitting of the parish municipal corporation, a representative said the area experienced “extraordinary flooding” about a month earlier. He said residents had protested and the National Works Agency had given assurances, but no corrective work has followed. The representative warned that unless the problem is addressed urgently, and before the rains arrive, the outcome could be deadly.
