The New York Knicks pulled off the biggest rally ever seen in the NBA Finals on Wednesday night, coming from 29 points behind to beat the San Antonio Spurs 107-106 at Madison Square Garden.
San Antonio looked set to square the matchup after carrying a 76-49 advantage into the interval, with Victor Wembanyama already posting 24 points and 13 rebounds. But after halftime, the Spurs lost their rhythm badly, scoring only 30 points across the final two quarters while New York worked its way back into the contest.
The decisive moment came with 1.2 seconds on the clock, when OG Anunoby followed up a missed three-point attempt by Jalen Brunson and tipped in the basket that won it for the Knicks.
Brunson finished as New York's top scorer with 36 points, and Anunoby contributed 33 in the record-setting result. The Knicks bettered the old Finals comeback mark of 24 points, achieved by the Boston Celtics against the Los Angeles Lakers in 2008.
With the win, New York now leads the best-of-seven series 3-1 and is one victory from its first NBA crown since 1973. Game Five will be played Saturday in San Antonio.
