Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz say they are focused on delivering another strong World Cup qualifying performance when they face Guyana, following their emphatic 11-goal win over Antigua and Barbuda.

At a pre-match press conference, the coach said training since the Antigua and Barbuda result had been energetic, competitive and focused. He said the players had benefited from a short break and had returned with renewed sharpness ahead of the final home group match.

The coach also praised the Jamaican crowd, saying the team felt the lift from supporters in the previous game and hoped for similar backing against Guyana. He said playing at home after a long spell away had given the squad added energy.

Senior player Deneisha said representing Jamaica in front of local fans carried meaning beyond football. She said being home allowed the players to connect with supporters and younger girls who look up to the team. For her, she said, playing for Jamaica is “bigger than myself.”

Deneisha said the squad showed its depth and growth in the win over Antigua and Barbuda, particularly in the way the players moved the ball and worked together. Looking ahead, she said the team wanted to set the tone from warm-ups and approach the match with quality, pride and early dominance.

The coach said Guyana, who are third in the table and still mathematically alive, should not be underestimated. He described them as organized and difficult, adding that Jamaica must respect the opponent while executing its own tactical plan at home.

He also said the extended time with the squad had helped the staff work on match plans and aspects of the playing model, while managing training loads through the medical and high-performance teams. He confirmed that, as of the press conference, “everyone’s healthy and ready to go.”

Asked about Jamaica’s football identity, the coach said the team wants to combine defensive resilience, speed, technical quality, high pressure and attacking intent. He said the aim is to play front-foot football, especially at home, while continuing to build chemistry within a group he described as closely connected.
