Lisa Simone teams with Jah Screw for third album set for 2027

Lisa Simone had long considered cutting a reggae set, but held off until the conditions felt right. That moment arrived in late 2025, when a shared acquaintance introduced her to producer Paul “Jah Screw” Love.

Known chiefly for his collaborations with Barrington Levy, Jah Screw has been steering Simone through multiple studio dates that will form her third album. The record is lined up for a 2027 release.

“We’re well into the production process. We’ve completed several recordings and we’re fine-tuning the songs to make sure every detail is right,” said Lisa Simone, who lives in South Florida. “We believe in taking our time so that when the music reaches the listeners, it represents the best of what we can offer.”

The Jah Screw sessions mark a sharp turn from I Trust You, the gospel album she issued last year under her husband Damian Orlando, who has overseen much of her catalogue.

Jah Screw’s path began on the sound-system circuit of the 1970s in Greenwich Farm, where he grew up. By the early 1980s he had moved into production, scoring major hits with Levy on Under Mi Sensi, Here I Come, and Living Dangerously featuring Bounty Killer. That track record drew St Thomas-born Simone into a partnership she had wanted for years.

“I love reggae because it’s my foundation, but I also enjoy gospel, lovers rock, R&B, soul, and inspirational music. Every genre allows me to express a different side of myself as an artiste,” she said. “As long as the song has substance and connects with people, I’m open to exploring different styles while staying true to who I am.”
