Man and teenage boy held after imitation firearm seized at St Thomas club party

A 20-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy remain in police custody following the seizure of an imitation firearm at a party held at a club in Trinityville, St Thomas on Monday.

Lawmen said they received information that a patron at the venue was carrying what appeared to be an illegal gun. Officers were dispatched to the location.

Police entered the club and reported that the adult was seen passing the weapon to the teenager. Both were approached and the item was recovered. The minor ran from the scene while the older male was held on the spot.

Further examination confirmed the weapon was a green and black imitation firearm.

The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a prohibited weapon. The confiscated item was turned over to the Morant Bay Criminal Investigation Branch for additional inquiries.

The teenager was later taken into custody in the York district of the parish.
