Manchester City rout Brighton 4-0 at Wembley to seal Women’s FA Cup and WSL double
Manchester City lifted the Women’s FA Cup on Sunday, adding the trophy to their league triumph to complete the club’s first league-and-cup double.
The Women’s Super League champions defeated Brighton 4-0 before a crowd of nearly 44,000 at Wembley. The result gave City their fourth FA Cup crown and their first in the competition since 2020.
Alex Greenwood supplied the delivery that Khadija “Bunny” Shaw headed home in the 38th minute to put City in front. Greenwood, the City captain, then struck a superb free kick just before the halftime whistle.
Aoba Fujino and Vivianne Miedema, both introduced from the bench, added second-half goals as Brighton’s first appearance in an FA Cup final ended heavily. Brighton had been chasing the club’s first major trophy.
City had already secured their first WSL title in 10 years last month under Swedish coach Andrée Jeglertz, who is in his debut campaign after moving from Denmark’s national team.
