Manchester Spurs take 2026 Red Stripe Netball Jamaica Elite League title with 72-47 final win

Manchester Spurs are the new Red Stripe Flavours Netball Jamaica Elite League champions after pulling down Kingston Hummingbirds' title defence with a 72-47 win in Sunday's final at the National Indoor Sport Centre.

The winners moved ahead early, leading 17-14 after the first quarter and stretching that to 37-24 by halftime. They kept control through the second half to finish 25 goals clear, wrapping up an unbeaten 2026 campaign and securing the Elite League crown.

The outcome brings a fresh name to the top of Jamaica's premier domestic netball competition, which Red Stripe Flavours has backed as title sponsor for a third straight year. Officials say the partnership continues to support the growth of local netball and open doors for athletes to compete at the highest level at home.

Kimone Shaw was named Most Valuable Player for her standout work in the final. Netball Jamaica President Karen Baugh and Red Stripe Flavours Brand Manager Arnaldo Martin presented the award after the match.

Martin said the season showed the league's rising standard. "As we close another exciting season of the Red Stripe Flavours Netball Jamaica Elite League, we are proud to celebrate the athletes who continue to raise the standard of Jamaican netball. Congratulations to Manchester Spurs on a well-deserved championship, and to every team, coach, official, organiser and supporter who helped make this season another success."

Earlier on the card, St. Ann Orchids claimed third place by beating St. Catherine Racers 74-71 in overtime after the teams finished regulation tied at 58-58.

Although Kingston Hummingbirds lost the title match, Zonasha Hinds received the Red Stripe Flavours Spirit Award from Martin for her sportsmanship, resilience and commitment across the 2026 Elite League season.

Baugh said the competition remains vital to strengthening the local game and preparing players for higher levels. "This season once again demonstrated the high standard of competition within the Elite League and its importance as a pathway for player development. Congratulations to Manchester Spurs on an outstanding performance this season and to all four finalists for showcasing the talent, competitiveness and future of Jamaican netball.
