Manchester United seal £50 million deal to sign Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos

Manchester United and Chelsea have struck an agreement for Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos to move to Old Trafford in a transfer that could total £50 million. Negotiations gathered pace after United made clear their interest, with the fee structured as £48 million up front and a further £2 million in attainable add-ons. Chelsea have also negotiated a 10 per cent sell-on clause within the deal.

Santos has received approval to undergo his medical, while United are also arranging examinations for Brazilian midfielder Ederson following his anticipated £35 million transfer from Atalanta. The signing arrives as United seek to bolster their midfield after Casemiro’s exit and a long-term injury setback for Manuel Ugarte, who is expected to miss an extended stretch of action.

United considered several midfield targets during the summer window, among them Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes, but neither pursuit progressed before the club pivoted to Santos. The 20-year-old is on course to stand among Chelsea’s headline departures this summer, with United still overhauling their squad as preparations continue for the upcoming season.
