St. James physician Dr. Marcia Johnson Campbell has been selected to receive the 2026 Governor General's Achievement Award for Excellence, recognising her long-standing work as a doctor, mentor, and community leader.

The Governor General's Achievement Awards Committee of St. James announced the honour during Healthcare Worker Appreciation Month. The committee pointed to Campbell's decades of service in health care, volunteerism, and public leadership, noting that her efforts have positively affected lives across St. James and throughout Jamaica.

Officials highlighted her tenacity, her lifelong commitment to education, and her broad contributions to community development, public health, and faith-based service as reasons she was chosen for the award.

"Dr. Marcia Johnson Campbell, it is with pride and confidence that the Governor General's Achievement Awards Committee of St. James has selected you as a worthy recipient of the 2026 Governor General's Achievement Award for Excellence," the committee stated.

Campbell is described as a dedicated physician whose influence extends beyond clinical practice into mentoring and civic leadership. Her record spans volunteer work, public health initiatives, and faith-oriented community service.

The Governor General's Achievement Award for Excellence recognises Jamaicans whose sustained contributions strengthen their parishes and the wider country. For St. James, Campbell's selection marks formal parish-level acknowledgment of a healthcare professional whose impact reaches into education, volunteer networks, and community development.
