Montego Bay Mayor Presses MSMEs to Ready for Government Contract Bids

1 min readSt. James

Montego Bay Mayor Richard Vernon is pressing Jamaica's micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to lift their operational standards so they can compete for government contracts.

He made the appeal at the MSME Procurement Project Launch and Boot Camp in St James, where he drew attention to the Government's policy of reserving 20 per cent of eligible public contracts for MSMEs.

Mayor Vernon said the initiative is intended to clear hurdles that have long kept many small firms from winning public-sector work.

He encouraged entrepreneurs to get their businesses in shape to pursue these openings and to support broader economic growth.
