MegaMart’s Portmore location is scheduled to shut down permanently on June 30, ending nearly three decades of business and putting about 200 workers in the path of job uncertainty. Store chairman Gassan Azan said in a release that the decision was an extremely difficult one. The outlet first opened in 1999 and has operated for 27 years.

In Kingston, one man died and three others were hurt after an explosion on Wednesday at a garage facility beside security company Burrell in Limited on South Camp Road. Welding work was reportedly under way at the site before the blast and fire. Of the three injured men, one is to continue treatment in Jamaica, while the other two have been flown to the United States for specialised burn care.

Jamaica striker Khadija “Bunny” Shaw has confirmed that she will remain with Manchester City. Shaw, a three-time Women’s Super League Golden Boot winner, shared the news shortly after collecting the club’s Etihad Player of the Season award. Her new contract is expected to run for four years, ending speculation linking her with a move to Chelsea.

Usain Bolt also entered the week’s headlines after American sprinter Fred Kerley fell short of the Jamaican legend’s 100-metre world record. Kerley had said he would take down Bolt’s 9.58-second mark at the Enhanced Games in Los Angeles, a claim that first drew a brief “okay” from Bolt online. After Kerley clocked 9.97 seconds, Bolt appeared to answer with a private-jet photo captioned, “national treasure #okay.”

The Dear Pastor feature focused on a 40-year-old woman concerned that intimacy with her 42-year-old husband has slowed. The couple has five children, stable jobs and domestic help twice weekly, but she said he often comments on her age and rarely initiates affection. Pastor suggested tiredness may be a factor, noting that her husband is no longer a young man.
