Fast-rising dancehall artiste Merkz continues what is shaping up to be a breakout year for the young deejay.
While his debut EP The Mad Life continues dominating Apple Music Jamaica for over a month, Merkz has now released the official music video for one of the project’s hottest tracks, “Retard.” The visual has already surpassed 200,000 views within just three days, while combined with the song’s audio, the track has now crossed over one million views on YouTube to date.
Laid on a slow trap-style rhythm filled with atmospheric keyboards, “Retard” sees Merkz showcasing his flow and delivery while touching on themes of everyday life, ambition, and the hunger to make money and elevate from struggle.
