Health Minister Salutes Jamaica's Healthcare Workers During Appreciation Month Service

The Minister of Health and Wellness has formally recognised Healthcare Workers Appreciation Month, commending the dedication of staff across Jamaica's public health system during a special church service.

Reverend Hilda Vaughn and other members of the clergy hosted the gathering, which brought together Permanent Secretary Errol Green, directors and staff of the Ministry of Health and Wellness, public health colleagues, and workers from across the sector.

The observance is being held under the theme "Honouring Commitment, Service, and Sacrifice." Officials used the occasion to highlight the professionalism and passion that define Jamaica's healthcare workforce, noting that staff in hospitals, health centres, laboratories, pharmacies, and communities continue to make a meaningful difference in people's lives every day.

The minister said workers remain at the centre of efforts to strengthen and modernise the public health system. Porters, nurses, doctors, patient care assistants, community health aids, data entry clerks, laboratory professionals, pharmacists, administrators, and other support staff were all singled out as indispensable to healthcare delivery.

Through the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the Government reaffirmed its commitment to building a stronger, more resilient health sector that serves both patients and the professionals who care for them. Investing in the healthcare workforce, the minister said, is essential to delivering quality care for every Jamaican.

Workers were encouraged to participate fully in appreciation activities planned throughout the month, described as a small but meaningful expression of national gratitude for their resilience and service.

On behalf of the Government of Jamaica, the ministry, and a grateful nation, the minister extended heartfelt thanks to healthcare workers and their families, and wished them a blessed Healthcare Workers Appreciation Month.
