Mojito is being tipped to rebound from his seasonal opening run when he lines up in Saturday’s Luchipo Trophy and Overnight Allowance feature at Caymanas Park.

The race, for three-year-olds and older horses over one mile, has Mojito listed as the 9-2-5 ante-post favourite. The six-year-old grey returned from four months away in the St. Cecilia Cup on April 18, where he finished fifth behind Sarat. That start followed his 10th-place effort in the Mouttet Mile.

The Jamaica Cup winner is trained by Richard Azan and is set to have Bebeto Harvey aboard. Mojito has reportedly been moving well in exercise and is being given the nod to get back into the winners’ enclosure after his last outing.

Interesting Times Ahead, also coming off a four-month break, is next in the early betting at 2-1. The five-year-old bay has moved to the barn of trainer Peter John Parsad and will be partnered by 2023 champion jockey Reyan Lewis. His most recent win came in December in Overnight company, and he is expected to make a strong challenge.

Blue Vinyl, Supremacy and Share The Light are also expected to be factors in the feature, which has nine starters and is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.

The co-feature is the Valbert Marlowe Memorial Cup, a Restricted Allowance Race Three event for native-bred and imported four-year-olds and upward over nine furlongs. Imported runner Diesel Train is the 8-5 Overnight favourite.

Diesel Train, a four-year-old bay gelding trained by Parsad, will be ridden by two-time champion jockey Radish Roman as he seeks a third victory from his last four starts. That race is down for 4:30 p.m. The 10-race programme begins at 11:30 a.m.
