Molynes United booked a place in the 2026 Popeyes Challenge Cup final on Saturday, June 6, defeating Montego Bay United 5-2 in a rain-affected semi-final at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex in St. Andrew.

The first match of CVM TV’s live double-header opened with Molynes showing sharper intent than Montego Bay, who entered the contest with several changes and a youthful line-up. Montego Bay had been unbeaten in three Premier League meetings with Molynes this season, winning twice and drawing once, but knockout football produced a different outcome.

Molynes went ahead in the first half when Odane Murray delivered from the right and Zeeru Sullean finished at the back post. The lead was doubled close to halftime after Nicholas Nelson held up play and laid off for Tyreek Wilson, who placed his effort beyond goalkeeper Marco Thompson.

Montego Bay responded after the break. Malachi Sterling, who had won a free kick, converted it himself to cut the deficit. Dero McKenzie then brought Montego Bay level, finishing calmly after the western club pushed him into a more advanced role in the second half.

Molynes, however, regained control late in the match. Wilson struck again from a set piece to make it 3-2, before Rashawn Livingston added a fine fourth goal after creating space inside the area. Substitute Samson Okin completed the scoring in the 90th minute, sealing Molynes’ first win over Montego Bay in four meetings this season.

The result ended Montego Bay United’s Challenge Cup run and left Molynes with a chance to close a difficult campaign with silverware, after spending much of the Jamaica Premier League season near the relegation battle.
