Nessa B honours late mother as Never Change climbs reggae charts

2 min read

Chart numbers alone do not capture what Nessa B's latest reggae single means to her. Only months after her mother's death, the singer is marking a bittersweet win as Never Change performs strongly on the SpinCounts Reggae Chart — a result she links directly to the woman who backed her throughout her career.

Temps Music and Afro World Live produced the uplifting track, which has already logged more than 1,500 radio spins across 24 stations, placing it among the chart's top reggae entries. Yet for Nessa B, each broadcast carries private weight.

She lost her mother in February, and the encouragement she received at home now shapes both her songwriting and her daily outlook. "She constantly encouraged me with the words, 'Believe in yourself and never give up'," Nessa B said. "I carry those words with me every single day."

"Losing my mother was one of the hardest moments of my life," she continued. "She always reminded me to believe in myself and never give up. So it feels incredible to see Never Change doing so well on the charts. This is for her."

Listeners have responded to the record's themes of resilience, self-belief, and staying true to one's principles, helping it pick up steam on reggae radio in several markets. Its rise also points to sustained demand for uplifting, message-led reggae as inspirational sounds reach wider audiences globally.

Nessa B attributes the momentum to radio programmers, DJs, playlist curators, and fans who have supported the release from day one. "This is only the beginning," she said. "Thank you to everyone who has streamed, requested, shared and believed in Never Change. Together we're proving that positive reggae music still has a place in the world."
