NHF Opens $25-Million EduCare Grant Applications for Healthcare Students

1 min read

The National Health Fund has opened applications for the 2026 EduCare Grant, offering eligible healthcare students financial assistance as the initiative enters its seventh year.

A combined $25 million will be distributed through the programme in 2026 to help recipients cover tuition costs. Students must submit their applications by Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

EduCare was introduced in 2020 to reduce the financial barriers facing Jamaicans training for careers in healthcare. Since then, the grant has assisted more than 200 students studying for various roles in the sector, supporting their progress through tertiary education and into employment.

NHF Chief Executive Officer Everton Anderson said the agency remains focused on helping students who might be unable to finish their professional training because of their financial situation.

Anderson said EduCare forms part of the NHF's work to strengthen the national health system by developing Jamaica's next generation of healthcare workers. He added that investing in the people who will provide services throughout the island is essential to improving the country's healthcare system.

Applicants must be Jamaican nationals attending accredited tertiary institutions in Jamaica on a full-time basis. Their courses of study must also be accredited. Students are required to have finished at least two years of their programme, meet the passing GPA standard set by their institution and provide evidence of financial need.

The grant covers several areas of healthcare training. Students studying medicine, nursing or pharmacy may apply, along with those enrolled in high-demand disciplines such as dentistry, public health, physiotherapy, radiology and nutrition.

Application forms are available for download at www.nhf.org.jm/educare-grant. Completed forms must reach [email protected] by the stated deadline.
