NHF Reports Stolen Agency Data Posted Online After June Cyber Breach

2 min read

The National Health Fund (NHF) has restated that a cybersecurity breach struck the agency, in line with its disclosure at the start of June 2026, and says it now knows that NHF information was placed on an outside website without permission.

The fund is collaborating with outside forensic specialists and the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) to establish exactly what material was taken and later published. It has also notified the Office of the Information Commissioner and pledged to honour every requirement under Jamaica's Data Protection Act, 2020.

Despite the breach, the NHF says its platforms are running normally and that core programmes for Jamaicans are unaffected.

"We sincerely regret the anxiety and uncertainty this situation may cause and assure our stakeholders that the NHF remains firmly committed to maintaining strong IT security and resilience through continuous investment and improvement. Our highest priority is to protect the privacy of all customers and to enhance measures to prevent disruption to our services," said Chief Executive Officer of the NHF, Everton Anderson.

Director of Information and Communications Technology at the NHF, Mr Wilbert Lyn, outlined the agency's immediate response once the matter came to light. "On becoming aware of this incident, we immediately activated our incident response protocols to strengthen safeguards, protect against unauthorised access, and enhance monitoring capabilities. We continue to work with urgency and diligence with our partners and relevant authorities to conduct ongoing investigations, identify root causes, and reinforce our security measures to minimise the risk of future incidents."

Anderson acknowledged that members of the public may worry about how their personal details were handled. He stressed the NHF's dedication to openness, accountability, and full compliance with the Data Protection Act.

"At the National Health Fund we understand the trust that Jamaicans place in us and thank them for their patience and understanding. We will continue to communicate openly, provide timely updates and notify affected data subjects (beneficiaries and customers) as verified information becomes available," Mr Everton Anderson said.

Anyone with particular worries about their personal data can reach the NHF on 876-906-1106 or 876-618-3617, or write to [email protected].

The National Health Fund, which has operated for more than twenty years, says it remains focused on providing health benefits to residents across Jamaica and on backing the country's wider health-care framework.
