NIRA Outlines Documents Needed to Apply for National ID Card

The National Identification and Registration Authority is again setting out what Jamaicans must bring when they seek a National Identification Card.

Those applying are expected to submit a birth certificate, evidence of where they live, and any further identity papers they already hold.

Enrolment is done only at a face-to-face appointment. Staff will take the applicant’s photograph, fingerprints and signature during that visit.

The ministry added that eligible people may begin the process online through the Authority’s website.
