Kranium Says Jason Derulo Almost Appeared on Nobody Has to Know

Dancehall singer Kranium has disclosed that US pop artist Jason Derulo was first booked to appear on his breakthrough single “Nobody Has to Know,” yet the pairing fell through once Kranium sought an alteration to a single line in Derulo’s contribution.

In a conversation with radio presenter Shani Kulture, Kranium described Derulo’s verse as strong, but flagged one expression that sat poorly against Jamaican cultural norms. He said he contacted Derulo to outline the issue and pressed for a rewrite of that lyric; Derulo refused.

An official remix of the 2013 release, featuring American R&B artist Ty Dolla $ign, later lifted the song onto the Billboard charts and secured platinum status in the United States. “Nobody Has to Know” still ranks among Kranium’s major global hits and widened his audience past core dancehall listeners.
