NYC Cleares Path for Peak-Hour Bus Lane on Bronx’s Tremont Avenue

Authorities in New York City are advancing a scheme to set aside a dedicated bus lane on a stretch of Tremont Avenue in the Bronx. Officials project that roughly 39,000 daily passengers will see shorter travel times once buses can use that exclusive lane in peak periods.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani has said the work should cut congestion-related waits, strengthen safety on the corridor and give riders back time they now lose in traffic. Separately, the city intends to seek public input on comparable bus upgrades in sections of Brooklyn, where daily bus ridership stands at about 150,000.
