Murder toll stands at 288 through July 10, down 80 from last year

Through Friday, July 10, police have logged 288 murders nationwide, the Jamaica Constabulary Force reports. That figure is 80 below the 368 killings recorded over the same stretch of the previous year.

Among divisions, St. James led with 37 killings, ahead of St. Andrew South on 25. Portland posted the fewest, with three.

Sexual offences, hold-ups and unlawful entries are also down. Reported rape fell by 12 cases, robberies by 95, and break-ins by 63.
