Opposition pushes NWC to allow temporary water meter hookups under good-faith plan
Ian Hayles, the Opposition’s spokesperson on water, is pressing the National Water Commission (NWC) to put in place what he terms a “good faith” arrangement for temporary meter connections.
Under the plan he outlined, customers who apply would have 90 days to bring their service into full compliance with the utility’s requirements.
Hayles said the approach would give the NWC a workable way to reduce non-revenue water across its network.
He also noted that residents in squatter communities continue to require legitimate access to safe drinking water.
