Santa Cruz construction worker charged after alleged machete attack from motorcycle

Police allege that a brief roadside assault in St Elizabeth left one man injured and another facing a serious charge.

Stevaughn Davis, 28, a construction worker of Beadles Boulevard, Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth, has been charged with wounding with intent. Officers say he approached a pedestrian on a motorcycle, struck him with a machete, then rode away, forcing the bleeding victim to find help on his own.

According to police accounts, the incident occurred around midday on Saturday, July 12. The complainant was on foot along a roadway when Davis allegedly pulled up beside him on a motorcycle and cut him on the left hand with a machete before leaving the scene.

Bystanders or others helped the injured man reach hospital, where he was treated. The attack was reported to police, who later arrested and charged Davis after their probe. A court date has not yet been set.
