Wavell Hinds Calls For Essential Worker Status For Security Guards

Opposition spokesman on labour Wavell Hinds says Jamaica’s security guards ought to be recognised as essential workers.
During his Sectoral Debate contribution in Parliament yesterday, Hinds said guards help protect schools, banks and several other industries. He also raised concern that many guards are not paid fairly for the duties they carry out.
Hinds used the debate to call for changes in the security industry, saying guards should have access to pension and insurance coverage.
