OUR Orders JPS To Explain Islandwide Blackout By June 8
The Office of Utilities Regulation has directed Jamaica Public Service to hand in an initial report by next Monday, June 8, on the previous day's islandwide power failure.
The OUR said the submission must set out how the outage unfolded, what factors helped cause it, and how the disruption affected electricity generation, transmission and distribution, along with service to customers.
Director General Ansord Hewitt said JPS must also outline the urgent actions being taken to lower the chance of a repeat. The first report will come ahead of a fuller review, which JPS is required to give the OUR within 30 days after power is restored.
